Every year since 2015 members of L’Arche Manchester, with and without disabilities, run the Great Manchester Run. Most of us do the 10K run with some brave people doing the half marathon. It’s become an annual ritual where we train every Saturday at Park Run in Platt Fields Park and then run our fastest come rain or shine (sometimes both) on a Sunday in May. We do all of this because it’s fun, it helps keep us fit, it builds our Community and helps us make new friends. But most importantly, we do this every year to raise money for L’Arche Communities across the world who don’t have access to the same resources and government funding that we do.

So this year knowing that the Manchester Run would probably be cancelled (we’ve since learnt its been delayed) we decided to set ourselves a new challenge. We decided to set our very own race. Could we as a Community collaboratively walk or run 100K? Our very own Couch to 100K. And in doing so, could we raise £1000? We weren’t sure, but we thought why not try!

So from Monday 18th May until Sunday 24th, when the Manchester Run would have been, we will be getting our running gear on and attempting to cover 100km. And that’s where you come in. We know that money may be tight for some people so there’s no pressure to give. But if you would like to support us in raising money for L’Arche Communities internationally who are doing important and brilliant things then we’d be overjoyed. And if you’d like to tell other people about our challenge then we’d love that even more.

Together we believe that we can run 100K and raise £1000.
