Our Heathside house provides accommodation to four people with learning disabilities and several live-in assistants. Heathside is fully accessible and has provision for individuals with additional physical disabilities, including track and hoist facilities, as well as several fully adapted en-suite bathrooms.

The house creates a genuine shared living experience. It’s beautiful, light, and modern, and lends itself to shared evening meals around the kitchen table. There is a wonderful garden with swings and a trampoline, as well as a fire pit for story nights around the fire. Furthermore, a prayer shed provides the space for quiet reflection, community gatherings, and is the venue for our weekly meditation group.

No.16 provides accommodation to four people with learning disabilities and several live-in assistants. The house is positioned on a cul-de-sac and as such is an integral part of the local community. Neighbours regularly pop over for cups of tea and shared meals. It too has a lovely, spacious garden for summer BBQs, which is ideal for a house that enjoys its parties!

As L’Arche Manchester we are growing all the time. In the autumn of 2018 we opened a self-contained flat on the same street as No.16, to provide specialist support to one of our existing core members. In the coming months we will open a fourth property  and welcome several more people with learning disabilities - who wish to live semi-independently - into the community.
